HEAD OF SCHOOL-BOYS

Assalamu Alaikum,

It is with great pleasure I welcome you to explore Darul Ulum College’s website. As you search through the site, I trust that your experience will not be confined to the school’s infrastructure and facilities, rather it will be coupled with an insight of the core values and virtues of this institution.

I am grateful and honored to be part of an Australian Islamic school comprising of an exceptional team of teachers and administrators who appreciate and understand the dynamics and needs of young boys and teenagers amidst the ever growing challenges. As a team, we take pride in the considerable amount of effort and resources dedicated to stimulate students’ academic excellence by cultivating a culture of inquisitive learning on the one hand, whilst being equally mindful and sensitive towards students’ social and emotional well being on the other.

The rapid speed of change in modern day society discourages educators and parents alike to be complacent with the role of mere spectators. It is noteworthy for all those engaged in nurturing young children and adolescents to adopt a proactive approach by equipping themselves with the necessary tools and skills that promote effective interaction and communication with our young generation. Hence, promoting a culture of respect, understanding and advocating virtue is an integral part of the school’s philosophy. A prerequisite for such a culture to prevail and flourish is to embrace our Prophet’s teaching in which he peace be upon him said: “When kindness is found in anything, it beautifies it and when it is withdrawn from anything, it becomes defective." [Sahih Muslim]

Therefore, as a school, we eagerly embrace our roles in keeping abreast with contemporary pedagogy through the conversations that dominate our weekly professional learning teams and professional development workshops. In doing so, we aim to empower our students by encouraging them to become active participants not only in the classroom, but within the broader community.

If you have any questions pertaining to the boys' section, its programs or if you would like us to organise a tour, please contact the school.

HEAD OF SECONDARY SCHOOL-GIRLS

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu,

Darul Ulum College of Victoria is a place where all students are given opportunities to reach their full potential. Along with being one of the leading school in providing and emphasizing the acquisition of Islamic knowledge, it is our mission that our students are to reach for academic excellence and to develop as lifelong learners. We endeavor and work towards inculcating in our students the confidence and independence to use the knowledge and skills acquired in avenues that will benefit society and themselves. We want our girls to graduate from our College having high aspirations, self-discipline and self- confidence in their worth and ability to become an integral part of society.

Catering for the wellbeing of our students involves all staff and engages parents and students in a genuine partnership relating to our primary focus – the opportunity for every student to reach their full potential. Through our various programs and co-curricular initiatives our girls can develop skills that are not confined to the academia only. We take advantage of all available resources and endeavor to increase our communication with all stakeholders involved to give our students the best experiences on their journey towards their goals. Our new website will strive to keep you well informed of these ongoing activities and projects.

The school infrastructure and ever evolving programs allows our teachers opportunities to engage in capacity building activities, through various professional development and reflection tasks. Through various forums such as small level-focused, curriculum-focused and wellbeing-focused meetings, teachers collaborate to gain an understanding of how best to support our students.

In the senior years, as our girls embark on their chosen future pathways, the College encourages and supports these young adults in making informed decisions. The provision of mentors, academic and careers support from trained professionals help guide them to develop into confident and independent individuals.

On behalf of our highly motivated team of teachers and administrators, I welcome you to explore the website. Your suggestions and contribution, as key stakeholders, are valued and always taken into consideration in the quest to improve outcomes for our students and our school community as a whole.
