The Progressive Achievement Tests (PATs) for secondary students will be held later this Term as follows:
- Boys' Campus: Tuesday, 18 September. All students in Years 7 – 10.
- Girls' Campus: Wednesday, 19 September. All students in Years 6 – 10.
The PATs for other primary classes will be held early next Term (Term 4).
The Australian Council for Education Research (ACER) Progressive Achievement Tests (PATs) have been available for use in Australian schools since the 1970s. They provide immediate, timely, nationally norm-referenced data on student achievement. At the centre of each PAT test is a described proficiency scale, providing both quantitative and qualitative data on student performance, making the PAT tests ideal for understanding students’ current strengths and weaknesses, informing teaching and learning, and monitoring progress over time. Schools use the PAT tests to supplement information received from NAPLAN testing, school-based assessment and teacher judgements.
The College will be conducting the PAT for both Mathematics and Reading.
In order for your child(ren) to successfully complete the tests, can you please ensure they bring the following stationary to school on the test day:
- A pencil.
- An eraser or rubber.
- A sharpener.
- A calculator for PAT Math for Year 9 and 10 students only.
Likewise, please ensure your child(ren) attend school on time on the test day to avoid complications. If for a valid reason your child(ren) must miss school on the test day, they will have to complete the tests at a later time.
